I don’t know the full story, but I know there is a lot of animosity towards go! Airlines. I really don’t like the twitter abuse though, as I had just spoken about twitter etiquette at podcamp!

Predatory is probably a good way to talk about the business tactics Go! used to put Aloha Airlines out of business. (Unfortunately) cut throat business practices that forget the people in exchange for the bottom line and for (perhaps, and in the case of go! definitely) greed are a continuing global trend. One question future business leaders might explore and certainly are exploring is how can one be ambitious and successful in an ethical and sustainable way? I have such a loose understanding of economics…. but… does an economic model based on competition have to breed go!’s kind of vicious competition or can it, as it should, foster productive competition that leads to positive and productive advancement and improvements for public rather than solely personal gain? I miss Aloha for many reasons, but on a big scale, I miss it because it seems indicative of a global trend I have yet to feel okay about.

I miss Aloha Airlines. All those family trips, growing up between islands, the excitement on the plane, now fond memories.

I wish Aloha could have brought their unions under control. Going out of business is not a good way to teach unions they are oppressive to businesses.

Boycotting other airlines is not the way to find peace. Send letters to those leaders who you feel responsible for the loss of Aloha. Include Go! executives, include Hawaii State lawmakers who support unions, include union leadership.

I miss Aloha: Mahalo for stopping by and for offering your positive recommendations. I know that Mesa/go! is not entirely to blame, but they did have a role in this. I also like how you recommend that I need to find peace with this, but that too is a challenge when go! wants to take the Aloha name. With your comment, I will try again, but I’m not sure I can…
